Now, you may be sat there thinking – hasn’t Dinosaur Day already been and gone? Well, you’re not wrong. Lots of people already celebrated everything dinosaur last month on the 15th.
Luckily, the extinct beauties are so loved that they have TWO whole days dedicated to them, so if you missed it first time around like myself, pay tribute to our prehistoric pals today by checking out some pretty epic dino gifts.
Hatching Dinosaur Candle
John Hammond would like us all to believe that hatching baby raptors takes a lot of money and a lot of time, but Firebox insist that all you need is a little bit of fire. Just light the top of the egg, and the wax will melt away to reveal your favourite dinosaur inside – simple. It’s adorable AND you get to keep your toy surprise, plus it will add a little prehistoric ambience to your humble abode. £29.99 – Firebox.
Wooden T-Rex Trophy Head
For the hunter who hates to hunt. If you’ve always loved the idea of having an animal head mounted on your wall, but don’t like the idea of actually hurting anything, check out this wooden trophy. I mean, technically you can’t hunt a T-Rex, so this could be your only option anyway. The mount is easy to assemble and requires no tools, you just need to pick the perfect place to hang it. £19.99 – Etsy.
Dinosaur Bottle Opener
Bottle openers are like loose change – you know you have loads of them, but there are never any around when you actually need them. The solution? Get a dinosaur for your kitchen. You can use its teeth to tear into your beer, whilst it stands on your counter looking bad ass as hell. I don’t think you’ll be losing him in a hurry. £24.99 – Firebox.
Hotel use plants are all the rage right now – and believe me, if I could keep a plant alive, I would have a house full of them – but they wouldn’t be in those boring ceramic pots. No, they would be stuffed inside little toy dinosaurs because I’ve never seen anything so beautiful. Add to the fact that these particular pots are pink, well – TAKE MY MONEY! £8.04 – Pine District.
Dinosaur Jewellery Rack
If you don’t look at this jewellery rack and automatically think about how much you need it in your life, then you’re in the wrong place. Not only is it decorated with dinosaurs – perfectly spaced dinosaurs may I add – it is also a display of wonderful colours. Rainbow dinosaurs should be on everyone’s wall, in every room. £36.16 – The Science Boutique.
If you dream of becoming a palaeontologist, but lack the equipment, degree, drive, and well – just about everything really, then you need one of these mugs. They make dinosaur digging as easy as.. sipping tea. Literally. Fill up your cup and drink away to reveal either a T-Rex, Triceratops or Diplodocus, all in beautiful bright colours. £14.99 – Firebox.
Jurassic Park Travel Posters
If you’re a dinosaur fan, chances are you’ll have heard of a little somethings called Jurassic Park – in which case, you will love these posters by Harknett Prints. Styled like travel posters, and depicting the islands of Nublar and Sorna – where dinosaurs roam free – they are bright and minimalistic, and would look amazing on any wall. They also come in various sizes. £7+ – Etsy.
Dinosaur Print Cushions
I’ve come across a lot of dinosaur covered pillowcases, but these are my favourites. They are sweet and simple, and so colourful. They’d look perfect on sofas and beds, but best of all, in a pillow fort – yes I still make pillow forts. If you’re a closet dino fan, then these subtle cushions are for you. Go on, let your geek flag fly a little bit. £18 – Helen Rawlinson.
In need of a little illumination for that light bedside reading? These dinosaurs can help, and look amazing whilst doing it. Much like the Dino mugs, they are available in three breeds; T-Rex, Triceratops, and Diplodocus. They’re styled like origami, and come in multiple colours. They also contain energy efficient bulbs, so you know they’ll last until the next extinction. £29.99 – Firebox.
Dinosaur Rolling Pin
So technically a rolling pin doesn’t really count as décor, but this particular piece of baking equipment has the ability to cover every cookie, biscuit and pastry case in little dinosaurs, making it the ultimate decorating tool – so I felt like it needed to be included. I mean, who doesn’t want all their food covered in dinosaurs? £26.52 – Etsy.
Tea Rex Mug
Tea drinkers beware – this WILL become your new favourite mug. I love a good pun as much as the next guy, and if it’s dinosaur related, well.. that’s even better. This mug is decorated with the Jurassic Park logo, but it’s way more fancy because Rexy is wearing a top hat, and you know top hats are classy. Sophistication at its finest right here. £11 – Etsy.
Dino LED Nightlamp
I know I’ve already featured one set of lamps on here, but these are too cute not to share. Shaped like derpy little dinos, and covered with LED dimming lights that are touch sensitive, these geometric nightlights are beyond adorable. They are handmade and can be customised so that they match any room in your house, which means you can have them EVERYWHERE! £48.22 – Mint Whale Gifts.
Dinosaur Head Wall Mount
Quite possibly my favourite thing in the whole list, this faux taxidermy T-Rex head is huge and proud and epic. Light weight, customisable, and made of resin, this mount would undoubtedly be the piece de resistance on any wall. And if you’re looking to scare off a few guests, attach it to your door. I love it in turquoise but I can imagine a Fuchsia dino would look just as impressive. £80.35 – White Faux Taxidermy.
I don’t think there could be a more perfect place to store your Michael Crichton collection than between a T-Rex and his frightened prey. If your copy of Jurassic Park needs a safe place to stand, make sure this T-Rex bookend, made of solid steel, is guarding it. £52.23 – Knob Creek Metal Arts.
Dinosaur Wall Clock
Telling the time can be boring, but not when every hour is a different dinosaur. This wooden clock created by Must Have Gift features 12 different prehistoric creatures on a wooden base, and comes in three different sizes. It’s simple but interesting. Learn your dinosaurs as well as the time – though if you’re still learning time at this age, well.. you should probably be rethinking life a little. £29.71 – Etsy.
