I posted my most anticipated movies of 2019 a little while ago – the Sci-Fi and Fantasy edition – and promised I’d be back with a Horror version, so I sat down to watch a bazillion trailers, and picked out my favourites.
I’m a massive horror movie fan, but I don’t tend to go to the cinema to watch them all that often because I’m super jumpy. I don’t scare easily, but if you stand in a doorway and pop out as I’m walking past – which Jess does very often – I will genuinely pee myself a little bit.
I think these films will be the exception though..

Accompanied by her husband, son and daughter, Adelaide Wilson returns to the beachfront home where she grew up as a child. Pet Sematary

Annabelle Comes Home

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark

I’ve seen trailers for US and Brightburn and am keen to see both. Never heard of Lla Larona, but it looks interesting. IT part 2 I will watch for completeness but I preferred the original over the last movie. The rest might be good but I am not jumping at those ones. Thanks or sharing

Yeah, I agree about IT – I thought the original was much more terrifying, but I mean, that could have been because I was a lot younger I guess. Eitherway, it’s still kinda scarred me for life haha, where as the new one was a good movie, but didn’t give me that adreneline rush.

Good list, definetly like the sound of Brightburn! I binged on It a bit too much last year, rewatched the Tim Curry TV movie and the first part of the newer instalment and read the book but want to see how they do the ending for this one.

Brightburn looks great doesn’t it? It appeals to both my geeky, superhero loving side, and my horror loving side. I hope it’s terrifying. And I’ve never actually read IT. I know I want to, but not sure whether to start it after I’ve seen Chapter 2. What do you think?

I enjoyed reading it whilst the old movie and Chapter 1 were fresh in my memory and the It in my mind became a hybrid of Curry and Skärsgaard! It’s a lengthy book though, I’m not the quickest of readers either so it took me a long while to get through it. Read it now!

I can’t wait for It: Chapter 2 and Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. I’m still a bit iffy on the Pet Sematary and Child’s Play remakes. And I’m with you on getting jumpy easily. I can handle most aspects of horror movies just fine, but something popping up out of nowhere always gets me.

I’ve got to admit, the main reason, and possibly the only reason, I’m excited for Child’s Play, is because Mark Hamill is voicing the sadistic toy. Is that bad? I think Pet Sematary looks amazing though – but then, I’ve never really seen or heard much about it before now. Glad I’m not the only jumpy one around. I feel so silly most of the time because I know I’m not scared, but I just can’t help it..

It Chapter #2 is what I’m looking forward to. I really enjoyed the first part, I thought it was incredibly well done.

I hadn’t heard of La Llorona, but it looks really good. My husband has been talking about seeing the new Pet Semetary and Child’s Play. I didn’t realize Aubrey Plaza was in it. But I hate Chucky, and I couldn’t finish Pet Semetary, so I will probably sit those out. A couple of the others look really good, I always liked reading Scary Stories to tell in the Dark.

Yeah, I must admit, I’m not the biggest chucky fan myself, but I heard that Mark Hamill is voicing him in the latest film, so I kind of have to see it now. Plus I looove Aubrey Plaza.

I have such a love/hate relationship with horror. It’s one of the most brilliant genres for societal commentary and layered storytelling, but I am also a giant scaredy cat! Us was one of the most brilliant movies I’ve seen in a long time and I’m so excited for Ma and Brightburn!

I hate horror films but something about Pet Cemetery terrifies me, yet equally intrigues me. I’m going to read the plot on Wiki or something lol

It looks like a very interesting movie, and the fact it’s based off of a Stephen King novel means it’s probably going to have a decent storyline. I’d definitely give the trailer a watch if you think you’re interested.

Well I read the entire synopsis on wiki and I never realised it turns into a possession of a person type story. Oddly I find that much less scary. Still not watching though lol
