Five New TV Series To Watch This February

With Einstein taking up my entire life at the moment, it’s safe to say that my social life has been put on hold for a while. I’d usually feel a bit anxious about that – I mean, I am the geeky tourist after all – but I’m actually kind of looking forward to having a break, focusing on myself a little more, and catching up with the hundreds of posts I’ve got in store for you guys.

But before I start listing out my favourite geeky spots in Edinburgh, and showing you where to find New Asgard in real life (yeah, Jess and I totally went there last month) I wanted to share something that will no doubt be getting me through February, and my backlog of posts – new TV series.

You guys know I love a good TV show. Whether it’s binging on Netflix, or painstakingly watching episodes every week on BBC, I rarely miss an opportunity to get stuck into something new, so here are five shows airing this month that I can’t wait to watch – and little list of a few returning series, just for good measure.

Katy Keene

Release Date | 6th February

A Riverdale spin-off, Katy Keene follows the lives and loves of four iconic Archie Comics characters – Katy Keene, Josie McCoy, Jorge Lopez, and Pepper Smith – as they chase their dreams in New York City together. Katy designs clothes for anyone she can, including her friend and roommate Josie, whose singing talent catches the attention of Alexander Cabot, a CEO. Josie and Katy’s roommate Jorge works at his family’s bodega and has his eye on Broadway. And the mysterious Pepper plans to open her own version of Andy Warhol’s Factory. As a massive fan of both Riverdale and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, I can’t wait to give this show a go.

Starring | Lucy Hale, Ashleigh Murray, Jonny Beauchamp, and Julia Chan

Locke and Key

Release Date | 7th February

Locke & Key is based on the best-selling graphic novels, Locke & Key which follows 3 siblings who, after the murder of their father, move to their ancestral home in Massachusetts only to find the house has magical keys that give them a vast array of powers and abilities. Little do they know a devious demon also wants the keys, and will stop at nothing to attain them. I never actually read the comics myself, but I always wanted to, so now the story is coming to the world in TV form, I couldn’t be more excited.

Starring | Jackson Robert Scott, Connor Jessup, Emilia Jones, and Darby Stanchfield

Mythic Quest: Ravens Banquet

Release Date | 7th February

Mythic Quest meets the team behind the biggest multiplayer video game of all time, but in a workplace focused on building worlds, moulding heroes, and creating legends, the most hard-fought battles don’t occur in the game – they happen in the office. This series is created by the guys behind ‘It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia’ – Charlie Day and Rob McElhenney – which is a show that never ceases to make me laugh, so if their new series is remotely similar I already know I’m going to love it.

Starring | Rob McElhenney, David Hornsby, Danny Pudi, F Murray Abraham, and Imani Hakim.

High Fidelity

Release Date | 14th February

After 5 heartbreaks, it’s finally time to face the music. Based on Nick Hornby’s 1995 novel and the beloved 2000 film staring John Cusack – both of which I absolutely love – Hulu’s High Fidelity centers on Rob, a female record store owner in the rapidly gentrified neighborhood of Crown Heights, Brooklyn, who revisits past relationships through music and pop culture, while trying to get over her one true love. I’m really looking forward to seeing how they portray Rob as a woman rather than a man – if anyone can refresh this role, it’s Zoe Kravitz.

Starring | Zoe Kravitz, Jake Lacy, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, David Holmes, and Kingsley Ben-Adir.

Hunters

Release Date | 21st February

Inspired by true events, Hunters follows a diverse band of Nazi Hunters in 1977 New York City who discover that hundreds of escaped Nazis are living in America. And so, they do what any bad-ass vigilante squad would do: they set out on a bloody quest for revenge and justice. But they soon discover a far-reaching conspiracy and must race against time to thwart the Nazis’ new genocidal plans. Directed by Jordan Peele, you just know this is going to be nuts, so I cannot wait for this show. The cast looks incredible as well.

Starring | Al Pacino, Logan Lerman, Josh Radnor, Carol Kane, and Kate Mulvany

    1. I’m hoping so. Up until writing this post, I hadn’t even heard of it before and now it’s the series I’m most excited for because it just looks so original.

    1. Yeah, I’m pretty excited to see what they do with them both, especially Katy Keene as I’ve heard there’s going to be a Riverdale Crossover.

  1. I didn’t know any of them were due – I heard so many good things about Locke and Key books so hopefully the show is good. Hunters sounds great as well. I’ll be keeping an eye out for these and add them to my ever growing list of TV Shows to watch!

  2. These shows are on my must list!
I will say for Locke and Key I LOVE some of the changes, but, I wish they had kept two characters story lines a little more like the comice (Kinsey and Dodge/Echo…and not their romance interest). But I love how they leaned into the fantasy of the books.
And I LOVE the change up on High Fidelity! I’m still iffy on apple plus tv…but Mythic Quest is a major reason I want to.
